2021 Cura Personalis Award Winners

Posted: 3/1/2021

The Cura Personalis Award, presented at the Annual Gala each year, honors faculty and staff who have supported HSP's Catholic identity and had a significant positive impact on students, parents, and colleagues.

The award recognizes faculty and staff nominated by HSP parents and colleagues.

Congratulations to this year's honorees Karen Fickett, Judson Kilgore, and Allison Berry!

Karen Fickett: In 2020, Karen Fickett was named a Master Teacher by the Georgia Independent Schools Association. This recognized her ability to collaborate with other highly skilled professionals in developing multi-disciplined approaches to education.

Throughout her eleven years at Holy Spirit Prep, Karen has been an exemplar of what being a Catholic educator means; she is inspired by her faith to inculcate in her students an ever-deeper appreciation of God’s creation.

Karen has taught kindergarten as well as third grade and has helped coordinate Battle of the Books activities, Book Buddies, and Mathletes. She has also served on many school committees. Karen and her husband, Harold, have three children - Hal, Will (‘13), and Eve (‘15) - and two grandchildren.

Judson Kilgore: Upper School teacher Judson Kilgore began his career at Holy Spirit Prep in 2017 as a theology teacher and has served as the House Master for the House of Nicaea and Middle School golf coach. Judson now also serves as Campus Minister to the Upper School and, in coordination with our chaplain, plays an important role in all aspects of organized spiritual activities undertaken by our students.

In tandem with the campus ministry team, Judson works carefully to organize and execute retreats, weekly Masses, service projects, sacramental celebrations, and daily devotional opportunities while helping integrate the House system with campus ministry. Judson hopes his House can repeat as the Upper School House champion this year!

Allison Berry: Information Technology Manager Allison Berry began her career at Holy Spirit Prep in 2016 as our Lower School STEAM teacher and technology coordinator.

In 2020, Allison became the school's full-time Information Technology Manager. In this capacity, Allison provides instructional technology support for students, faculty, and staff. During her tenure at Holy Spirit Prep, Allison has served as a teacher, positive behavior intervention and support coach, and a leadership team member.

This is Allison's 9th year teaching and serving in Catholic education.
