Dear Holy Spirit Prep Families,
Congratulation's to Holy Spirit Prep's Class of 2022, the seventeenth graduating class of Holy Spirit Prep!
This year's graduates celebrated all of the traditions of graduating from our school: signing the Matricula, descending the spiral staircase, Baccalaureate Mass celebrated by Bishop Schlesinger, and Commencement Ceremony. This year's commencement speakers were valedictorian, Daniel Jones, salutatorian, Luke Farris, and commencement speaker, Senator Kelly Loeffler.
We wish all of our graduates God's blessings!
In Christ,
Ed

The Lower School Field Day
Kindergarten to 5th grade students had a blast at the 21-22 Field Day on Wednesday. Students took part in relay races, water balloon toss, and several other fun and exciting games. All students were divided up into one of four teams (red, white, blue, and green) to take part in the competition. In the end the white team came out on top!
It was a great day, thanks to all, especially our high school and parent volunteers (led by Vyvy Vuong Lee and Eric Richmond).
Middle School House Day
House Day was a huge success on both campuses on Tuesday thanks to both our students and teachers AND the parent volunteers that made it happen (especially Jamie Neff and Dorothy Gatwood). Our 6th and 7th graders battled through several activities and even got to "dunk" their teachers in the dunk tank. In the end THE HOUSE OF NICAEA came out on top in the Middle School points race! The point lead they built up throughout the year could not be overcome. Great job Red House!
On Monday, May 16, the Upper School honored several students for their achievements during the school year.
Campus Ministry Awards
St. Zita of Lucca was famous for her work with the sick, the poor, and the imprisoned. She was regarded locally as a saint soon after her death; the title was officially given to her in 1696. This award is given to one male and one female student who, like St. Zita, have a servant’s heart. This year’s recipients are: Sophia Napier & Bernadette Grantham
St. Thomas More was not merely a man of great holiness and courage but also one of exceptional talents in all arenas of life. He was a renowned lawyer, philosopher, lover of the arts, and a devoted family man. He also displayed a superb sense of humor. Because of the diversity of St. Thomas’s abilities and achievements, he has been called “A Man for All Seasons”. This award is given to the Upper School student who, like St. Thomas More, demonstrates a commitment to excellence in many different aspects of life. The award is given to one male and one female at the Upper School. This year’s recipients are: Davis Braun & Kaelyn Bannon
St. Francis of Assisi was the son of a wealthy merchant, and he seemed destined for a life of comfort. However, he forsook comfort and the acceptance of his friends in answering God’s call to pursue a life of virtue and service. The St. Francis Award is given to the Upper School student who, like St. Francis of Assisi, places his/her witness to the truth and pursuit of the good before acceptance and popularity. This student’s actions demonstrate the understanding that living according to the Gospel should be an individual’s highest priority. The award is given to one male and one female at the Upper School. This year’s recipients are: Emil Sacco & Lilah Sell
St. Teresa of Calcutta devoted her life to serving the poorest of the poor. She worked long hours in the most unpleasant surroundings. Although Mother Teresa’s commitment to serve the needy was inspiring, it was the joy with which she served that captured the imaginations and hearts of all who met her. The Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Award is given to the Upper School student who, like Mother Teresa, is always there to offer help and does so with a smile that communicates the privilege of serving one in need. The award is given to one male and one female at the Upper School. This year’s recipients are: Issac Olguin & Sophia Raus
St. Edith Stein was born into an observant Jewish family, but by her teenage years she had become an atheist. However, an avid philosopher, she continued to study the works of brilliant thinkers including saints of the Catholic Church. Eventually, her humble search for the truth led her to become Catholic herself as she joined the Carmelite order, where she took the name Sister Teresa Benedicta of the Cross. The award is given to the Upper School students who demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm and love for learning and an openness to follow the truth wherever it might lead. The award is given to one male and one female at the Upper School. This year’s recipients are: Pierce Hughey & Mary Anna Cumbie
The Newcomer Award is given to those students who, in their first year at the Upper School, made the most positive impact on their class and on our campus. The award winners are determined by a vote of the teachers on the basis of the students’ academic, social, athletic, artistic, or other general contributions to Upper School life. The Newcomer Award is bestowed on one male and one female Upper School student. The award is given to one male and one female at the Upper School. This year’s recipients are: Andrew Wingate & Caroline Castellaw
Academic Gold Awards
Academic Gold Medals are awarded by academic departments in the Upper School to one exemplary student in each department within each grade. The gold medal is awarded to the student who has earned a grade of 90 or higher for the year and whom the department believes best exemplifies a love of the discipline, a strong work ethic, and any additional merits that the student brings to the study of the academic discipline. The gold medal ranks among the highest academic honors a student can earn in the Upper School.

House Leadership for 2022-2023
The house system, led by our Head Boy and Head Girl, is a treasured institution at our school that fosters comradery, leadership, and healthy competition. The leadership boards of each of the four houses are elected by their peers and the administration entrusts them with the responsibility of leading by example in virtue and academics, fostering community, organizing house events and service opportunities, and ultimately leading their house to victory in the year long house competition.

Lastly, thank you to all of the parents and students for their support this entire year! We look forward to continued success this upcoming school year! Have a wonderful summer! GO COUGARS!
This is just a reminder that annual Physical Exams are required for all students at HSP. Please schedule your appointments now for the spring/summer for your students.
All students in grades 6-12 are required to have their physical completed between April and August prior to the new school year. All athletes are required to have physical exams prior to any summer practices and/or games without exception.
Student Health Records Policy Pre-Participation Physical History and Evaluation Forms
All exams are to be uploaded into School Doc by the beginning of the new school year. School Doc is refreshed every summer, so take a picture of your students exam and hold onto it until School Doc is active for the 2022-2023 school year. Please use the HSP physical exam form attached for your convenience. It can also be found on the HSP website along with authorizations for medications to be given at school.
